Arthur “Misty” Thackery - An Inevitable Fall From Grace For Coburn’s “Enforcer”

The dramatic fall of one of UKIP Scotland’s key players and Chairman, Arthur “Misty” Thackeray, has been on the cards for some time as rumours circulating inside and outside the party suggested a scandal was soon to break. With a list of alleged offences against his name, many were expecting Thackeray's tenure to soon be at an end, but perhaps not in the form of a sex scandal.

Arthur 'Misty' Thackeray former Chairman of Ukip Scotland

Along with his domestic issues relating to “sex calls” from a Glasgow pub, we can reveal that Thackeray and his MEP, David Coburn, have been named in an official EU Parliament investigation relating to racism and religious intolerance within UKIP’s political group, the EFDD. Fifty-five year old Thackeray, who draws a generous taxpayer funded salary as Coburn’s Chief of Staff, is being looked into for multiple sectarian slurs allegedly made since he was contracted as an EU employee. In 2014 he was quoted on record as saying Catholicism is a “fascist ideology".

Our sources also report that the former “security consultant” is unable to campaign in certain areas of Glasgow due to a stirring up of religious tensions, and that some UKIP Scotland activists refuse to knock on doors in case they are confronted with fury from residents of all races and religions on account of his statements. Previously Thackeray has been quoted as saying “GCC” stands for “Gays, Catholics, and Communists”. rather than its proper title Glasgow City Council; and stated that he felt campaigning in Glasgow was akin to “contesting a seat in Pakistan” such was the influence of “Islamism” on Labour and the SNP.

It has also been reported that during the Scottish independence referendum, Coburn and Thackeray sought the support of Ulster’s Orange Order and brought many members and affiliates to Scotland to campaign for them. These connections were also utilised in Coburn’s 2014 European election campaign, helping him to secure UKIP’s sole EU parliamentary seat in Scotland.

Thackeray's rise to the top of Scottish UKIP came after a bitter power struggle, in which many long standing members were ousted or pushed aside. After several instances of sectarianism were reported the party attempted to alleviate concerns of members and the public by sending Thackeray to “counselling”. Since his takeover of the Scottish operation, the party has almost ceased to operate, with members dropping out and patrons switching support.

UKIP Scotland Chairman Arthur 'Misty' Thackeray Quits After Sex Charges

We've been on this guys case for a while.

A famed member of Ukip Scotland (all 6 of them), he has a documented history of racism, islamophobia, bigotry and homophobia.

After appearing in court on a series of sex call charges, he quit.

'AMT''s previous form.
But Ukip should have kicked him out long ago. He has openly boasted of being part of the SDL - Scottish Defence League, the north of the border wing of the English Defence League, a proscribed organisation under Ukip rules.

He has also openly boasted about his part in various Far-Right Events.

Thackeray, right, with Ukip MEP David Coburn, left.

How he lasted so long is a question easily answered - he has been protected by Ukip MEP David Coburn. No longer.

Full story at the Scottish Daily Record.

Demolition Of An Argument : Yes, #Ukip Is A Racist Party

This is a long post. Dip in and out as you see fit.
Well done if you get to the end of it.

We came across a new UKIP blogger yesterday, a 'student of journalism', and we discovered an intriguing piece that was certainly fairly well written, a UKIP rarity indeed.

However the poor chap seems to be studying at the 'Daily Express' School of Journalism, in that 'factual accuracy' and 'telling both sides of the story' seem to be entirely optional elements, and were replaced with 'lift huge chunks out of the various UKIP releases and repost without challenging them'.

He's quite recently become a UKIP member, having just joined in May this year, around the time UKIP membership peaked, and just before the downward spiral of losing 10,000 members. He's a confirmed Eurosceptic, but we can't tell whether his Euroscepticism has led to his Immigration views or vice-versa. With UKIP supporters, it's often one or the other.

Well, as he's a rookie in this game, we were interested in his article entitled "My 12-point argument against the notion that UKIP is a racist party". Surely there'd be something new in there for us to sink our teeth into? Something different?

Sadly, a brief scan confirmed that it was pretty much straight from the UKIP manual, all the points we've seen before so many times, and each point easily defeated, a process we've gone through every time each argument is raised on our Twitter feed for the last three years.

But we thought it might make a reasonable opportunity for us to collate in one place, all of the ripostes to the various claims made by UKIP on the subject of racism.

Sorry, Oliver Norgrove, nothing personal - you just walked into our sights at the wrong time.

He begins:

Okay, let's stop right there. Oh, dear, and it was going so well up to that point.

For someone wishing to place himself as, dare we say, a more moderate Kipper, this phrase (just eight words in) is a clear pointer to his position. The phrase ‘Cultural Marxism’ is an oft-denounced 'Conspiracy Theory', dating from about 1920 - but the more modern variant has been popularized more recently by the right wing American Tea Party Movement.

More pointedly, it is a favourite of American White Supremacists fighting the supposed 'White Genocide' i.e. White Nationalists, and was even quoted as a motivation behind the horrific crimes of Anders Breivik.
